Meet Dr. Diego A Herrera, M.D.

Dr. Herrera is a highly-skilled, board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon with a specialization in shoulder and knee injuries. Fluent in both Spanish and English, he is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care with an emphasis on communication and approachability. Driven by his patient-centric philosophy, he believes in the importance of listening to his patients in order to develop treatment plans and deliver the best possible outcomes.

Having graduated from the Central University of Venezuela, Dr. Herrera pursued further medical training in the United States, solidifying his expertise in orthopaedics. He completed a rigorous two-year Clinical Research Fellowship in the Department of orthopaedics at the University of Minnesota, followed by a comprehensive five-year orthopaedics Surgery Residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Driven by his passion for Sports Medicine, he further honed his skills through a one-year subspecialty training program in Sports Medicine Surgery at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego, California.

During this time, he focused on complex knee and shoulder injuries, specializing in minimally invasive surgeries and arthroscopic procedures. His commitment to advancing the field of orthopaedics led him to publish a book chapter and contribute to multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts in esteemed national and international orthopedic journals.

Since 2013, Dr. Herrera has been serving patients in private practice in New Jersey, earning a reputation for his exceptional clinical skills and compassionate care. Recognizing his expertise and dedication, he was honored as New Jersey's "Top Orthopaedic Doctor of the Year" by the Garden State Law Enforcement Officers Association. Additionally, he has been consistently recognized as a "Top Doctor" in orthopaedic surgery by NJ Top Docs from 2019 to 2024.
